How much does a GEO tracking tool cost?

Public entry plans range from $29[1] a month at Otterly.AI to $199[2][3] a month per platform at Ahrefs Brand Radar, and the most complete plans often run to a few hundred dollars a month. Large enterprises negotiate custom quotes.

In between, most tools offer a middle tier: $189[1] at Otterly.AI, $245[4][5] at Peec AI, €249 excl. VAT/month[6] at iPand. These figures were read on the vendors’ pricing pages, on October 18, 2026 for most of them, and each one links to its source.

The sticker price does not tell the whole story: at a similar price, one tool may track far fewer questions than another, or charge extra for an engine the other includes. The rest of this article explains what drives the bill and how to choose for your size.

The table lists each tool’s three public tiers and whether a custom plan exists. Prices are the vendors’ own, in their currency, never converted.

Monthly prices without an annual commitment unless stated; every value links to the vendor’s page.

Two details change the picture. Brand Radar comes on top of an Ahrefs subscription, which starts at $129[3] a month. And the Semrush toolkit is billed per domain, so a company tracking several sites pays several times.

What makes the price vary

Four things make up most of the bill: the number of prompts tracked, the number of engines, the number of countries and how often answers are collected. Seats and add-ons do the rest.

  • Prompts: the main lever. Otterly.AI goes from 15 prompts on Lite to 400[1] on Premium; Peec AI from 50 to 350[4][5]; iPand from 50 to 350[6].
  • Engines: some are included, others cost extra. Peec AI includes 3 models and charges $35[5] a month for each extra model on Starter; Otterly.AI charges $9[1] a month for Google AI Mode and Gemini on Lite; at iPand, the number of included engines goes from 3 to 6[6] depending on the plan.
  • Countries: Peec AI tracks 1 country per project on Starter and 3[5] on Pro; Otterly.AI advertises unlimited countries on its monthly pricing tab[1]; iPand tracks one market on Standard and several from Premium[6].
  • Frequency: most tools collect answers daily, but Ahrefs Brand Radar refreshes assistants once a month[2]. Less frequent collection costs less, and smooths out less of the variability in answers, which change almost every time the same question is asked again[12].
Compare plans like for like: same questions, same engines, same countries.

So compare plans for the same need: the same number of questions, the same engines, the same countries. That is often where a tool that looks cheaper becomes more expensive in use, or the other way round.

The costs you do not see at first

Extra seats, engine add-ons, currency and tax can add noticeably to the bill without the headline price changing. Read the pricing page all the way down.

  • Seats: Ahrefs includes 1 user and charges from $40[3] a month for each extra one; Semrush One includes 1 user, then $45[8][10] per extra user. Peec AI, Otterly.AI and iPand advertise unlimited users[5][1][6].
  • Engine add-ons: at Otterly.AI, Claude costs $29 a month on Lite, and add-ons are shown excluding tax[1].
  • Currency: most tools bill in US dollars. For a business outside the US, the real price depends on the exchange rate and bank fees.
  • Tax: check whether the price shown includes sales tax or VAT. iPand’s prices are in euros excluding VAT.

Estimate your budget with four questions

You can estimate your budget before talking to any vendor: you only need to know how many questions to track, on which engines, in which countries, and for how many people. Those four answers almost always point to one specific tier.

  • How many questions? List your customers’ questions by intent, such as discovering, comparing and buying, and keep the ones that really matter. That number sets the tier.
  • Which engines? Start from the ones your customers use. If one of them is an add-on with a vendor, add its price to the plan.
  • Which countries? One market is enough for a local business; a brand selling abroad should check the price of each extra country.
  • How many people? If your team, your client or management need to read the results, prefer a tool without per-user licences.

With those four answers, open the pricing pages and look for the first tier that covers everything. You will avoid the two most common mistakes: paying for a top tier to track a handful of questions, or picking an entry plan that then forces you to buy add-ons at full price.

How to choose for your size

Pick the volume of questions you need first, then the cheapest tool that covers it on your engines and in your countries. Paying for features nobody will read makes no sense.

Your situationWhat you needWhat to check
Local businessA few dozen questions, one country, mainstream enginesThat ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews are included
Small or mid-sized companyYour key questions by intent, tracked dailyThe number of prompts on the entry plan, and the trial

Our article on tracking tools compares their features, and the one on GEO for agencies explains how to organise tracking per client. Before you pay, measure where you stand with the free test, then compare iPand’s plans on our pricing page.

Key takeaways

  • Public entry plans start at a few dozen dollars a month; large enterprises negotiate custom quotes.
  • The number of prompts, engines and countries drives the price far more than the brand of the tool.
  • Compare plans for the same need, adding seats, engine add-ons, currency and tax.
  • Decide on the volume you need before you pick the tool.

Any tool that gives a “ranking position in AI” is full of baloney.

Frequently asked questions

Is an entry-level tool enough?

Often, to get started. Otterly.AI’s Lite plan tracks 15 prompts: enough to see whether you are cited on your main questions, not to track several product lines or countries.

Why are so many prices in dollars?

Most vendors in this market sell first to the US and bill in dollars. For a business elsewhere, the real price then depends on the exchange rate.

Do prices include tax?

It depends on the vendor: check the wording on its pricing page. iPand’s prices are shown in euros excluding VAT.

Should I pay annually?

If you are sure you will keep tracking, it costs less: iPand gives a 15% discount on annual billing, and Peec AI drops from $95 to $80 a month on Starter. Start with a trial, then switch to annual.
