Publish detailed text, unique to the page and full of specific facts
Description
This criterion checks that the main text of the page, excluding the menu, header and footer, has at least 250 words and is not identical to that of any other page you track. If you track only one page, this last check does not apply.
A language model also assesses the page text: does it give specific facts rather than generalities, and does it have few mistakes? iPand does not look for copies of your text elsewhere on the web.
Why it matters for AI engines
To cite your page, an AI assistant needs to find clear, verifiable information in it. Google encourages original content that adds real value and is carefully written. It also states that it has no preferred word count: iPand’s 250 words are a benchmark to provide enough substance, not a Google rule.
- Text that is too short leaves few facts to reuse.
- When two pages have the same content, search engines show only one of them.
- A specific fact (a price, opening hours, a product name) can be checked and quoted; “quality products” says nothing.
How to fix it
- 1 Expand the main text Add what customers want to know before deciding: what the offer includes, who it is for, how it works, how much it costs, how long it takes. Aim for at least 250 useful words in the main text, without filler or repetition.
- 2 Make each page unique If two tracked pages have the same text, for example two city pages copied from each other, write a specific text for each: team, services, access, local features. Changing a figure or a date is not enough. You can also merge them into a single page and redirect the other one to it.
- 3 Replace generalities with facts For each general statement, ask what it stands for: “wide choice” becomes “120 bike models in stock”, “fast service” becomes “repairs within 48 hours”. Mention product names, prices, opening hours and examples that visitors can check.
- 4 Proofread the text Fix spelling and grammar, by reading aloud or with a spell checker. Unreviewed machine translation is easy to spot and counts as poorly written text: have it reviewed by someone fluent in the language.
Key takeaway
Detailed text, unique to the page and rich in verifiable facts, gives AI assistants something to cite. iPand counts the words, spots duplicates among your tracked pages and has a language model assess precision and language.
